The Singer Hunter is a mid-range car that Singer manufactured from 1954 to 1956 as the successor to the SM 1500 model.

The Hunter took over the four-cylinder in - line engine with overhead camshaft (OHC) and 1497 cm³ displacement from its predecessor. It made 48 bhp (35 kW) and accelerated the sedan to 113 km / h.

The limousine body of the Hunter was essentially the same as its predecessor. However, until 1955 he had a different grille with a horse's head as a hood ornament and a fiberglass bonnet. Double horns and windshield washers were part of the basic equipment. In 1956 the more simply equipped Hunter S appeared .

The SM 1500 Roadster continued to be built until 1956.

As with the SM 1500, there was also a more powerful version of the Hunter from 1955, the Hunter 75 , which made 75 bhp (55 kW) with two carburettors and two overhead camshafts (DOHC). Only about 20 of this powerful model were made.

In 1956, after the takeover by the Rootes Group , the Hunter was replaced by the Singer Gazelle after 4,772 copies , which was a derivative of the Hillman Minx . A prototype of the roadster was also created, the Singer SMX with a more modern body. There was no longer any series production.
