Singer World Series 1996
The Singer World Series 1996 was a four-nation tournament that was held from August 26 to September 7, 1996 in Sri Lanka in one-day cricket . In the tournament, which was part of the 1996 international cricket season, teams from Australia , India and Zimbabwe took part alongside the host . In the final, Sri Lanka beat Australia with 50 runs.
prehistory
India previously played a tour in England , which the English won with 1–0 in the Test series and 2–0 in the ODI series. For all other teams it was the first tour of the season.
format
In a preliminary round, each team played against each other once. There were two points for a win, one for a draw or a rejection. The first two of the group qualified for the final and played for the tournament victory.
