The Sinhalese Sports Club Ground is a cricket stadium in Cinnamon Gardens , Colombo , Sri Lanka , inaugurated 1,952th The stadium is the venue for international test matches and one-day internationals .
Capacity and infrastructure
The stadium's capacity today is 10,000 seats, compared to up to 20,000 seats in the 1980s. This makes it the smallest of the three cricket stadiums used for international games in Colombo, next to the Paikiasothy Saravanamuttu Stadium and the R. Premadasa Stadium . The stadium is also home to the office of the Sri Lankan Association, Sri Lanka Cricket . The two ends are called Tennis Courts End and South End .
National cricket
The stadium is the home of the Sinhalese Sports Club and is used by the Sinhalese Sports Club at the national championships.
International cricket
The Sri Lankan national cricket team regularly plays its home games in this stadium. The first ODI took place in 1982 against England , the first test against New Zealand in 1984. At the 1996 Cricket World Cup , the stadium hosted a preliminary round match and six more at the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy .
