Sinik (born June 26, 1980 in Paris , actually Thomas Gérard Idir ) is a French rapper of Algerian descent .

Life

His mother is French and his father is Kabyle . He spent his childhood and youth from the age of four in Les Ulis ( Essonne ), a suburb of Paris .

From 1996 he was a member of the group L'Amalgame , with which he made a name for himself in the underground scene in Paris. The crew evolved and became Ul'Team Atom . At the same time he began his solo career. After numerous mixtapes , he released his first Maxi Malsain in 2000 on the record label 3.5.7 . In 2001 he met Karim and Nabil , with whom he founded the label 609 (also Six o Nine ).

Diam’s , whom he met when he was 14, had a lasting impact on his career. The two rappers have a more than professional relationship, characterized by overcoming common problems, so that they describe their relationship as that between brother and sister, which is expressed in the title Le même sang .

On January 25, 2005, La main sur le cœur was released , his first album with the Warner Music Group record company , which achieved gold status in France (more than 200,000 units sold).

His second album, Sang Froid , was released on April 3, 2006. It featured renowned artists such as Kool Shen , El Tunisiano (from the group Sniper ) and Kayna Samet. This album also sold more than 200,000 times in France.

On December 10th, 2007 his third album Le toit du monde came out. The first release of this album De tout la haut was released on October 15, 2007.
