Sinningen (Emsdetten)

Sinningen is a district of Emsdetten and has around 1000 inhabitants. The settlement is not far from the Ems .

Location and infrastructure

The settlement is on the B 475 , about one kilometer east of Emsdetten and four kilometers west of Saerbeck. The Münster-Osnabrück airport is located southeast, about ten kilometers away. There is a kindergarten and the Emanuel von Ketteler elementary school in Sinningen.

history

For a long time, Sinningen was part of the Saerbeck parish . According to a tax collection document from the Bishop of Münster from 1498, the settlement and the farmers in Sinningen had 23 farms. The settlement has belonged to Emsdetten since January 1, 1975, although parts of it are still part of Saerbeck.

Worth seeing

The 22 meter high former windmill Eilers in Sinningen was built in 1866. It is one of three remaining Dutch windmills in the Steinfurt district . In 2000/2001 it was completely restored and now serves as a fire station. As an important architectural monument, it was entered in the list of monuments of the municipality of Saerbeck in 1996.

Personalities

Emil Frank , a well-known Westphalian homeland poet, taught from April 1905 to 1909 at what was then the farmer's school in Saerbeck-Sinningen. During this time Emil Frank began his literary work and the first work appeared in 1909 at the end of his time in Sinningen, the short story volume Sietenjans Söhne .
