Sint Petrus en Paulus (Ovezande)
Sint Petrus en Paulus is a secularized former Evangelical Reformed church in the Ovezande district of the municipality of Borsele in the Dutch province of Zeeland . The building is Rijksmonument under the numbers 10018 (nave) and 10019 (tower).
history
The church, consecrated to Saints Peter and Paul , was initially a branch church of the parish of St. Peter in 's-Heer Arendskerke and was elevated to an independent parish church in the 15th century. The Gothic west tower, a stilt tower and the nave were built around 1400. In 1568 the Reformation was introduced at the church . The choir and a transept-like north chapel were laid down in 1840 and the nave was converted into a reformed preaching hall.
The characteristic stilt tower is unusual for Zeeland, but can be found in a small local group in addition to Ovezande in the Torenkerk in Gapinge and in the church of St. Martinus in 's-Gravenpolder .
In 2006 the last service was held in the church and the building was sold and used as a gallery today. The parish has merged with the parish in Driewegen .
