Kin research

Kinship research (also kinship studies ) is an outdated term for researching family relationships in ascending and descending lines and the so-called side lines. The term Sippenforschung is inseparable from the racial politics in the era of National Socialism connected.

The ethnic movement began in the early 19th century with the use of the terms clan instead of extended family and clan research instead of genealogy . From 1935 onwards, the Reich Office for Family Research (from 1940 as the Reich Office for Family Studies ) organized the family researchers in the Association of Professional Family Researchers, whose main field of work was the creation of Aryan records . On behalf of the Reichsbauernführer Horst Rechenbach organized the work on the village clan books .

The guilt by association as a repressive measure against the members of regime opponents was mainly in the vicinity of 20 July 1944 used as one of many tools to sanction persecution, repression and elimination of the opposition Movement.
