The Sir John Guise Stadium is a football stadium in Port Moresby , capital of Papua New Guinea . Football matches are usually held there. Horse races used to be held there. There is space for 5,000 spectators in the stadium. The facility was built for the 1991 South Pacific Games and financed by the Chinese government .
The venue was named after John Guise (1914-1991), the first governor-general of Papua New Guinea.
The stadium hosted the 2016 Oceania Cup in Papua New Guinea and the 2016 U-20 Women's World Cup .
