Sirpa Pietikäinen (born February 19, 1959 in Parikkala ) is a Finnish politician from the National Collection Party .

Life

After finishing school, Sirpa Pietikäinen studied economics at the Helsinki School of Economics , where she obtained an MBA . Pietikäinen speaks Finnish, English, Swedish and German. Pietikäinen became a member of the conservative National Assembly Party and won a seat in the Finnish Parliament . From 1991 to 1995 she was Environment Minister . She has been a member of the European Parliament since 2009 . As a politician, she wrote several articles in Finnish newspapers. From 2000 to 2004 Pietikäinen was chair of the World Federation of United Nations Associations .

In 1993 she received the Commander-in-Chief of the Finnish Order of the White Rose .

Pietikäinen is a member of the World Future Council .
