Siteco is a lighting technology company based in Traunreut . The company has around 1,100 employees in 2018.

history

Siteco was founded in 1949 as the home appliance and lighting plant of Siemens-Electrogeräte GmbH (today BSH ) with its headquarters in Traunreut, Upper Bavaria. The company belonged to the Siemens group (Siemens lighting technology) until 1997 .

In 2002 the company was taken over by the JPMorgan investor group and later by Barclays Private Equity .

The takeover by the then Siemens subsidiary Osram was completed on July 1, 2011.

In the summer of 2018, Osram announced that it wanted to part with Siteco and look for a buyer. On June 25, 2019, the sale was communicated to Stern Stewart Captial, based in Munich. Siteco is now switching back to a financial investor.

Well-known objects illuminated by Siteco are the Reichstag building and the Badische Bahnhof in Basel .

Alongside Zumtobel and Philips, Siteco is one of the largest manufacturers of lighting equipment.
