The Skärhamns Idrottsklubb is a Swedish football club . The club, whose first team is currently competing in fourth-class Division 2 , is based in Skärhamn on the island of Tjörn .
history
After football was played in a rather unorganized manner on Tjörn until the 1920s, the IFK Valla club was founded in the east of the island . This also attracted players from Skärhamn, who had to ride their bikes to train and play for this purpose. In order to save these troubles, it was decided in 1932 to found their own club in Skärhamn, so that on October 13th of that year the Skärhamns Idrottsklubb was launched. From the end of the decade, the team also took part in the Swedish league system, but initially only played in lower-class, regional leagues.
In 1962, the team from Skärhamns IK appeared for the first time in the upper part of the league system when the promotion to the then fourth-class Division 4 Bohuslän / Dalsland succeeded. Just two years later, as the season winner, she managed to march through to Division 3 Nordvästra Götaland . Here, however, the class could only be held for two years before it went back to fourth class accompanied by IK Oddevold and BK Häcken . As a result, the club consolidated its name as an elevator team , the resurgence in 1968 was followed by direct relegation. After the runner-up in 1971 succeeded in 1973 the renewed return to the third division, where again the relegation was missed. In the following years the team established itself at the fourth level. After she had mostly played for promotion at the end of the 1970s, she crashed into the fifth division in 1983 with only four wins this season.
After several years in the regional leagues, Skärhamns IK returned to Division 3 Nordvästra Götaland in 1989 . In the fourth division now played against relegation. 1992 succeeded surprisingly in the season victory in the spring championship, promotion to the third division was only missed in the play-off games. In the following seasons, however, the relegation battle was again in the foreground and in 1995 the team only saved themselves in the relegation round.
Two years later Skärhamns IK returned to the race for promotion to the third division and after only one point was missing in 1997, a year later after 25 years in lower leagues with the relay victory, the return to the third division. Here, however, the team missed relegation due to a goal difference that was one goal worse than their competitor Qviding FIF . As a season winner, the club managed to return directly, where the class could be held with an eighth place in the table. In the following years, the team established itself in the midfield of the table and was able to qualify in 2005 as third in the table together with FC Trollhättan and Carlstad United BK for Division 1 , which was newly introduced as the third division . In the southern season, the team placed in the lower midfield and was able to keep relegation in 2007 with three points ahead of the relegation ranks occupied by Kristianstads FF and Visby IF Gute , before losing relegation a year later as the bottom of the table.
