The Skarnsundbrua ( German  Skarnsund Bridge ) is a road bridge over the Skarnsund in Norway , which connects the Beitstadfjord called the inner part of the Trondheimfjord with its outer part. The Skarnsund Bridge leads the provincial road 755 with a clearance of 45 m over the Skarnsund and thus connects the place Straumen in the municipality Inderøy , province Trøndelag with the place Mosvik in the former municipality Mosvik , which now belongs to Inderøy.

description

The Skarnsund Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with two lanes and a pedestrian and cycle path on the southern side. When it opened in 1991, it was the cable-stayed bridge with the longest span in the world and still has the longest span of all cable-stayed bridges with a concrete bridge deck.

Her two A-shaped pylons of reinforced concrete are a few meters from the shore and tower above the water level to 152 m. The stems of the pylons are connected and stiffened by cross bars at water level and directly below the bridge deck.

The bridge deck consists of a 13 m wide, continuous hollow box girder made of prestressed concrete , which has a profile in the form of a very flat triangle standing on its tip. Two inclined plates are arranged under the cover plate, which meet in the middle under the cover plate. The construction height of the bridge deck is only 2.15 m.

The bridge has a span of 530 m between the pylons. The sections of the bridge deck, spanned by the stay cables outside the pylons, are each 190 m long, of which only the first 109 m are simply suspended from the cables. This is followed by four disc-like pillars at a distance of 27 m each, which support the bridge deck and at the same time anchor it against the pull exerted by the stay cables, the z. B. caused by traffic loads moving across the main span. At the western end there is an 80 m long plate-beam bridge on three pillars, which connects the bridge deck in a wide arc with the road on the high bank. On the eastern bank, only 20 m are bridged from the last guy to the road.

history

The bridge was built by the engineering firm Johs. Holt, built by Aker from 1989 to 1991 and opened by King Harald V on December 19, 1991 . It has been a listed building since 2008 .
