Skeletons (also: Skeleton $ , Skeletons and the Girl-Faced Boys , Skeletons and the Kings of All Cities ) is an American art rock band that was founded in 2001. Her current album “ People ” was released on April 26, 2011.

history

The musician and director Matthew Mehlan founded Skeletons as a solo project in 2001. In the following years he gathered a large number of musicians under various project names and has since released eight studio albums.

style

Skeletons use elements from free jazz, avant-garde pop and similar styles in their music. Henrik Drüner wrote about the album "Money" in Intro magazine :

“Because the album“ Money ”, Skeletons fifth and the premiere on Tomlab, strains conventional listening experiences. Vocal confusion, wind attack, rumble drums and other sound utensils cause part-time irritation in their mix. On "Ripper aka The Pillows" there are overdriven trumpets hunting rhinos, innumerable recording tracks clatter in the background to prevent clarity. "

- Henrik Drüner : Intro # 167

In the band's work so far, the album “People” is considered the most accessible work. Andreas Hofmann wrote on the baby blue pages :

“The all too irritating moments of the other albums are missing on“ People ”or seem pleasantly defused without the still somehow strangely nested songs losing their sharpness. This time Mehlan mainly tells (true!) Stories and manages to relax even the crudest compositions. "
