Sket Dance is a manga series by the Japanese artist Kenta Shinohara , which was published in Japan from 2007 to 2013. The work has also appeared as an anime , light novel and radio play. It belongs to the comedy genre .
content
The story revolves around the everyday life of "SKET-dan" at Kaimei High School. This club ( dan ) of students has the task of solving the various problems on campus that are brought to them by the school management or the students. The abbreviation SKET stands for "Support, Kindness, Encouragement, and Troubleshoot", which means "Support, friendliness, encouragement and problem solving". However, due to its low success, the group is not very popular and only has three members. Yūsuke Fujisaki ( 藤 崎 佑助 ), called Bossun ( ボ ッ ス ン ), is the main character and leader of the SKET-dan. The other two members are the student Hime Onizuka ( 鬼塚 一 愛 ), called Himeko ( ヒ メ コ ) and Kazuyoshi Usui ( 笛 吹 和 義 ), called Switch ( ス イ ッ チ , Suittchi ).
publication
The first chapter of the series was released as a pilot chapters on 28 August 2006 at the magazine Weekly Shonen Jump from the publisher Shueisha . From issue 33/2007 of July 2007, further chapters followed. The series ends in issue 32/2013 published on July 8, 2013. The individual chapters have been summarized in 31 anthologies, the 32nd and final anthology is to be published on August 2, 2013. The volumes sold over 140,000 times each.
Tong Li Publishing is bringing out the manga in Chinese in Taiwan.
Adaptation
Anime
In 2011 Tatsunoko Production produced an anime series based on the manga, directed by Keiichirō Kawaguchi . The character design was created by Manabu Nakatake and the artistic direction was taken over by Yutaka Mukumoto from Studio Tulip, who was responsible for the background. The series has been broadcast on TV Tokyo in Japan since April 7, 2011 . The broadcast on AT-X began on April 13, 2011 .

Shūhei Naruse composed the music for the series. The opening credits were underlaid with the song Kakkowarui I Love You ( カ ッ コ 悪 い I Love You) by French Kiss and for the credits the title Comic Sonic by The Pillows was used.
Light novel
Shueisha published a light novel adaptation entitled Sket Dance extra dance , written by Sawako Hirabayashi with illustrations by Kenta Shinohara.
The first volume Shinsetsu! Gakuen Nana Fushigi ( 真 説! 学園 七 不 思議 , Eng. "A true story! The Seven School Wonders"; ISBN 978-4-08-703211-6 ) appeared on November 4, 2009 and the second volume Seitokai no Jikenbo - Cook Shell Jiken ( 生 徒 会 の 事件簿 〜 ク ッ ク ・ シ ェ ル 事件 〜 , ~ Kukku Sheru ~ , "The School Assembly Incident Register - The Cook Shell Incident"; ISBN 978-4-08-703225-3 ) on July 2nd 2011.

Two radio plays on CD accompanied the manga in Japan. The first on October 30, 2009, the second followed on April 28, 2010.
