history

The Mayrhofen Ski Club, then the "Winter Sports Club for Mayrhofen and the Surrounding Area", was founded on March 25, 1924 in the "Alte Post" inn. For the election in the Hotel "Alte Post", the committee was appointed as follows:

  • Chairman: mountain guide Andrä Pfister
  • Deputy: Franz Steindl, Dornauberg
  • Treasurer: Postmaster Josef Steiner
  • Secretary: Anton Hotter, master builder
  • Advisory boards: Friedrich Dengg, Hans Bauer, Franz Hauser, Wilhelm Fankhauser

At the founding meeting, it was decided to build a ski jump ( Hausererschanze ). In addition, the construction of an ice rink and a rink for ice shooting was considered. In 1931 the ski team of the winter sports club built the ski hut on the Penken, at that time with a pent roof. The ski hut on the Penken was rebuilt from 1946 to 1948 and since then it has presented itself in the familiar image with a gable roof.
