The Battenhausen ski area is a winter sports area on the Hohen Lohr ( 656.7  m above sea  level ) in the Kellerwald near Battenhausen in the northern Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg , which was used as an official ski area with a lift until 2017 .

History and description

In 1966, the first ski lift went into operation, which at that time was still powered by two tractors. In 1987 a ski lift was built.

In the winter sports area there were two tow lifts on the northeast flank of the Hohen Lohr - at an altitude of around 500 to 650 m. There is a medium difficulty and around 620 m long ski slope . There is a floodlight system on the slope and on the sledge slope . In addition, the former ski area has a snow-making system. The Hüttengaudi snack station is at the lower end of the downhill run .

In 2017, skiing was stopped and the lift was sold. The snack station is still in operation and tobogganing is possible at your own risk.
