Battenhausen is a district of the municipality of Haina (monastery) in the northern Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .

Surrounded by the forests of the Kellerwald , the village is located east of the core town. Battenhausen is a state-approved resort and is located directly below the Hohes Lohr mountain .

Winter sports are practiced in the highest village in the Kellerwald. There were two ski lifts available in the Battenhausen ski area, of which the large anchor lift was dismantled in December 2017. The first ski lift was built in 1966, at that time it was still powered by two tractors. The 680 m long anchor lift, which is still in operation in addition to a 160 m long pommel lift, was built in 1987 and was brought to Battenhausen from Austria . The platter lift is still lugers who can choose between three toboggan runs, and ski beginners are available.

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent municipality Battenhausen the course was municipal reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the community Haina / Kloster (former spelling) incorporated . The Battenhausen Evangelical Church from 1779 to 1786, a listed building, is a landmark building .

Battenhausen forms a Protestant parish with Hüttenrode and Löhlbach .
