geography

The place is in the northwest of the municipality in the Buntstruth , part of the natural area Wohratal , on the northeast edge of the castle forest , the highest point of which Knebelsrod ( 443.1  m ) is about 2 km west of the village. history

In 1190 there was already a noble family who named themselves after the place. Around 1200 a Werner von Römershausen is mentioned as a castle man at Densberg Castle .

A railway construction and connection to the extended Kellerwald Railway , which was planned before the First World War and had already begun in parts, came to an abrupt end with the lost war.

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent municipality Römershausen was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the community Haina / Kloster (former spelling) incorporated . For Römershausen, as for the other districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.
