Altenhaina is a district of the municipality of Haina (monastery) in the northern Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .

geography

Altenhaina lies northwest of the core town. District road 101 and the Schweinfe run on the eastern edge of the village . In the district of Altenhaina, about one kilometer south of the village, the small hamlet of Kirschgarten is located at the confluence of the district road 104 from Haina (monastery) into the K 101.

history

The village was first mentioned in 850.

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the then independent community of Altenhaina formed the new community of Haina / Kloster (spelling at that time) on July 1, 1971, voluntarily together with five other places . For Altenhaina, as for the other districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up. The district of Haina / Kloster was designated as the administrative seat.
