Bockendorf is a district of the municipality of Haina (monastery) in the north Hessian district of Waldeck-Frankenberg .

The village, located in the Burgwald and on the Schweinfe , was first mentioned in 1120 when the local nobility were named by Bockendorf.

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , the then independent municipality of Bockendorf formed the new municipality of Haina / Kloster (spelling at that time) on July 1, 1971, voluntarily together with five other places . For Bockendorf, as for the other districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up. The district of Haina / Kloster was designated as the administrative seat.

Landesstraße 3073 and Kreisstraße 101 meet in the village .

The extension of the Kellerwaldbahn to Frankenberg, which was planned before the First World War and had already begun in parts, ended abruptly with the lost war in 1918. Bockendorf thus missed the connection to the great railway world.
