Löhlbach is the largest and northernmost district of the municipality of Haina (monastery) in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district in northern Hesse .

Geographical location

Löhlbach is located in the middle of the Kellerwald and the Kellerwald-Edersee nature park, about four kilometers north of the core town of Haina on the upper reaches of the Wesebach , which rises about two kilometers east of the small Aschkoppe . The federal road 253 leads through the village , from which the state road 3077 branches off to Haina. Löhlbach is located directly on the Rhine-Weser watershed . While the Wesebach as a tributary of the Eder belongs to the catchment area of the Weser , the southwestern part of the locality is drained via the Wohra to the Rhine .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1140 in connection with Aulisburg Monastery. At that time a trade route ran through Löhlbach, which meant that the place had its own court as early as 1240 .

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent municipality Löhlbach was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the community Haina / Kloster (former spelling) incorporated . For Löhlbach, as for the other districts, a local district with a local advisory board and local councilor was set up.
