Maria Magdalenakerk (Goes)
The Grote of Maria Magdalenakerk is a Protestant church in the center of the Dutch city of Goes .
history
Nothing is known about a possible predecessor of the Maria Magdalenakerk. It was built in late Gothic style since 1470 and was originally planned as a three-aisled hall church. However, after the choir was completed, the plans were changed. 1506 began with the beginning of a transept and a nave in the form of a basilica . In 1618 the church was damaged by a fire, which was repaired by 1621. In the 17th century , a roof turret with a carillon was placed on the crossing.
While the choir and the transept are still in church use, the nave is now used as an exhibition space. The church belongs to the United Protestant Church in the Netherlands .
organ
The organ was built in 1970 by the organ builder Marcussen (Denmark). The instrument has 43 stops on three manuals and a pedal .
