The Skilling Island is a small island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It belongs to the Robertson Islands group and is located immediately north of the Atriceps Island .

The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1955 after Charles John Skilling (1930-1952), general assistant scientist of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey on Signy Island in 1949 and member of a sled team for the visit to the Robertson Islands, which on April 17, 1952 a few hours before reaching port Stanley on board the research vessel John Biscoe in a pneumonia died.
