Skipper - Boats & Yachting was a monthly special interest magazine from Germany . The magazine covered the subjects of boats and water sports .

history

Erhard J. Nellissen, the first editor-in-chief of the Skipper , had the idea of creating a “platform for intensive communication between all recreational skippers”. At the beginning of 1978 he created a concept together with the publisher Dieter Bergemann. In May 1978 the first edition of the “Boots- und Wassersport-Magazin” appeared - at that time still in black and white - with a total of 48 pages. Issue number 1 cost 4 German marks . There were no thematic restrictions. Whether surfing , sailing , motor boating , jet skiing or water skiing , at the beginning the editors were open to all sides, which is also reflected in the four-part cover picture of the first edition.

Merged with the former boat trade magazine , SKIPPER - Boote & Yachting is now published under the name Skipper Bootshandel by MuP Verlag in Munich. The magazine is sold at newsstands in Germany and some European water sports areas as well as by subscription.

Content

The magazine covered topics related to motorized water sports. According to its own information, Skipper was one of the leading water sports magazines on the European market. In addition to test reports on new motor boats, trailers and maritime equipment, the magazine offered information on technology and electronics , tips, reports and news from the scene. In addition, boating areas from Germany and abroad were presented.
