The former ski jump near Osterzell was located between the districts of Salabeuren and Ödwang on the border of the municipality of Osterzell and the municipality of Bidingen in the Swabian district of Ostallgäu on a natural slope at the western end of the Sachsenrieder forest .

The idea of building a small ski jumping hill matured shortly after the Second World War , when the natural slope in the Sachsenrieder forest was still mainly used as a ski slope. Some young men from Osterzell and the immediate vicinity with an affinity for ski jumping got together and in 1949 the construction of the ski jump began with strenuous manual work. The take-off table was made of wood and the runway for the inrun had to be prepared. The ski jump was planned by the architect and ski jumper Heini Klopfer from Oberallgäu, who designed many ski jumping hills around the world.

From 1950 to 1961 there was jumping on the hill. Among other things, the later Olympic champion Franz Keller jumped from this hill. The nearby Salabeuren farm served as a garage for the skis and provided electricity for night jumping and loudspeaker systems. The increased mobility finally made it easier for many athletes to pursue their sport in the Alps , so that the sport in Osterzell came to a standstill. The hill record was 32 meters. A memorial stone, which was erected in 2004 and on which the names of the athletes involved in the construction are engraved, reminds of the builders of the ski jump and the former ski jump itself.
