Skreddergården is a five-story commercial building in the center of the Norwegian capital, Oslo . It is located at Akersgata 20, directly behind the parliament, the Storting . The master tailor Carl Hansen commissioned the building in 1894 and was planned by the architect Christian Reuter in the neo-renaissance style and completed in 1895. The facade is decorated with frescoes , probably by Halfdan Davidsen, who also painted the facade of the royal castle . In 1933 the facade was restored and placed under monument protection.
The name Skreddergården means “tailor's house” and is derived from several tailors who moved into the house.
