Sculpture of the Assumption Arcachon

The sculpture of the Assumption in the Catholic Basilica Notre-Dame in Arcachon , a French city ​​in the Gironde department of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region , was created at the end of the 18th century. In 1970, the baroque sculpture was added to the list of listed buildings ( Base Palissy ) in France as Monument historique .

The 1.90 meter high figure of Mary in the church choir is made of wood and painted. Mary , depicted with a veil and a long robe, is lifted into heaven by angels. Mary's floating in the air becomes visible to the viewer.
