The sculpture park was created in 1989 while renaming the files kept by the Museum National Coalition small sculpture of the GDR in National Coalition plastic of the GDR . While it was initially limited to the immediate vicinity of the monastery, sculptures are now also in the area north of the Hundertwasserhaus , on the banks of the Elbe , in the area of the Elbe railway station up to the Magdeburg lift bridge and in the undeveloped area north of the monastery. The sculptures shown in the park have been continuously supplemented by further works since 1989, so that contemporary art is represented in all its diversity.
