The Kunst am Deich sculpture trail is a two-part sculpture trail along the cycle path around the Jade Bay in Lower Saxony . The first sculpture trail with seven sculptures on the history of creation was created in Expo 2000 and is located on the western Jade Bay between Mariensiel and Dangast . The continuation of the sculpture path was created in autumn 2003 on the eastern Jade Bay between Varel and Eckwarderhörne and also shows seven sculptures on the subject of "The Flood - Preservation of Creation behind the Dike". In 2010 the sculpture path was expanded to include the work of art “The Tower of Babel - God's Hut with the People”.

Emergence

The seven sculptures on the theme of "The Seven Days of Creation - Seven SEH Signs on Seven SEE Miles" were created in the Expo year 2000 as part of a sculpture symposium in Cäciliengroden . The symposium took place on the initiative of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Christ in Sande-Cäciliengroden under the direction of Pastor Frank Klimmeck. The participating artists Nicolei Deppe (Bremen), Ivo Gohsmann (Oldenburg), Eckart Grenzer (Oldenburg), Adrian Jähne (Görlitz), Jo and Jutta Klose ( Nordhorn ), Norbert Pierdzig (Edewecht) worked from June 15 to July 15, 2000 ) and Thorsten Schütt (Horsten) in the open air in wind and weather on their sculptures. The campaign met with such a positive response that the works of art were set up after their completion along the cycle path on the Jade Bay.

In the summer of 2002 the idea of the Art on the Dike Sculpture Trail was continued. At the Augustgroden dike construction site on the eastern Jade Bay, the almost identical group of artists created sculptures on the subject of “The Flood - preservation of creation behind the dike”. Wilfried Gerdes (Moordorf) stepped in for the prevented Adrian Jähne. The flood sculptures were then set up in autumn 2003 along the cycle path on the eastern Jade Bay.

In 2010, the sculpture path was expanded to include another work of art on the initiative of retired pastor Frank Klimmeck. The work of art “The Tower of Babel - God's Hut with the People” on the Feldhauser Deich in Langwarden forms the preliminary conclusion of the sculpture trail around the Jadesbusen. The inauguration took place in September 2010.
