SKY Brasil 1 (SKYB-1) is a commercial communications satellite owned by Sky Brasil, a subsidiary of AT & T / DirecTV .
It was put into geostationary orbit on February 14, 2017 at 21:39 UTC with an Ariane 5 launcher from the Center Spatial Guyanais rocket launch site (together with Telkom 3S ) . Almost 40 minutes after take-off, the ECA upper stage of Ariane 5 deployed the satellite.
The three-axis stabilized satellite is equipped with 60 Ku-band and 21 Ka-band transponders and is intended to provide television mainly to Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Columbia and Brazil from position 43.1 ° West. The Ka-band transponders are to be sent to the Arab satellite operator YahSat. It was based on the satellite bus of Euro E3000 Airbus Defense and Space built and has a design life exceeding 19 years. Telecommunications company Intelsat owns a minority stake in the satellite, which is marketed under the name Intelsat 32e to provide Internet services for air and sea traffic in the Atlantic and Caribbean regions.
