The Mörsbacher Grund of Darmstadt-Arheilgen is a nature reserve on the northern edge of the Darmstadt district . The NSG is part of the FFH area “Kranichsteiner Wald” and covers around 68.06 hectares.

The Mörsbacher Grund was placed under nature protection in order to secure the development and promotion of the reed stands, the perennial stands, the meadow communities and the bodies of water. There are numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species on the site.

The GSI Helmholtz Center for Heavy Ion Research is located on the southwestern edge of the nature reserve . The zinc pond is located on the southeast edge .
