The Silzwiesen of Darmstadt-Arheilgen are a nature reserve on the northern edge of the Darmstadt district . The NSG is part of the “Messeler Hügelland” and covers around 65.64 hectares.
description
The Silzwiesen of Darmstadt-Arheilgen were placed under nature protection in order to secure the development and promotion of the mixed forest stands, the damp to wet forest meadows, the swamp areas and the naturally developed waters. There are numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species on the site.
Protective reason
The Silzwiesen nature reserve in Darmstadt-Arheilgen is home to very rare biotopes such as B. Wet meadow communities, Borstgraswiesen and Kalkquellmoor companies. In total there are more than 50 species on the “Hessen Red List”. Particularly noteworthy here is the occurrence of the Siberian iris ( Iris sibirica), the autumn crocus ( Colchicum autumnale ), as well as the swamp thistle and bulbous thistle .

The Silzwiesen of Darmstadt-Arheilgen have been a nature reserve since 1978.
