The Brömster near Darmstadt-Eberstadt is a nature reserve on the southern edge of the Darmstadt-Eberstadt district . The nature reserve is about 9.6 hectares in size.

geology

The Brömster sand dune ( inland dune ) was formed at the end of the Vistula Ice Age in the cold tundra climate through sand drifts from Pleistocene drifting sand.

flora

The Brömster dune can be divided into different vegetation units:

  1. Mixed pine forest
  2. Juniper heather
  3. Pfriemengras - steppe lawn
  4. loose silvergrass dry grass
  5. Dry xerothermal awl grass lawn

Nature reserve

The dune has been a nature reserve since 1984.

The reason for protection is the preservation of the dune flora.

There are numerous plant species on the area that are protected, worth protecting or endangered.
