The FFH area Lerchenberg and Kernesbellen of Darmstadt-Eberstadt is a nature reserve on the southern edge of the Darmstadt-Eberstadt district . The nature reserve is about 17.19 hectares.

geology

The Lerchenberg and Kernesbellen nature reserve consists of two sub-areas and has characteristic sandy grass communities that are connected to the Brömster sand dune . The NSG is part of the extensive drift sand areas of the northern Upper Rhine Plain . The typical species-rich, light sand-lime pine forests and the orchards are the habitat of numerous endangered and threatened animal and plant species.

The NSG Lerchenberg and Kernesbellen can be subdivided into different vegetation units:

  1. Mixed pine forest
  2. Pfriemengras - steppe lawn
  3. loose silvergrass dry grass
  4. Dry xerothermal awl grass lawn

Nature reserve

Since 1995 the Lerchenberg and the Kernesbellen of Darmstadt-Eberstadt have been a nature reserve. There are numerous plant and animal species on the site that are protected, worth protecting or endangered.
