Skybot F-850

The Skybot F-850 is an anthropomorphic robot from the Russian space program . He serves as a "test passenger" for test missions in preparation for manned space flights. Skybot is a variant of the Russian military robot type Fedor (short for Final Experimental Demonstration Object Research ).

development

Fedor has been developed and built by the Russian company Android Technics and the military research organization Russian Foundation for Advanced Research Projects (FPI or FARP) since 2014 . According to Russian state media, it was originally said to be a rescue robot for disaster victims, but Fedor was also shown during shooting training. The robot can be controlled with sensor gloves and video glasses in a " first-person perspective ".

The FPI is also developing the Marker robotic main battle tank .

commitment

On August 22, 2019, Skybot F-850 took off with the unmanned spacecraft Soyuz MS-14 for the International Space Station (ISS). There he spent a few days in the Russian part of the station, where cosmonaut Alexei Ovchinin demonstrated the control of the robot. On September 6, the spacecraft with Skybot landed safely in the Kazakh steppe southeast of Sheqasghan . Soyuz MS-14 was a test mission for converting Russian ISS feeder flights to a newer version of the Soyuz rocket .

A Skybot will also be on board for the Template: future / in 2 yearsfirst flight of the spacecraft Federazija, which is planned for 2022 .

In the long term, Russia is also planning robot missions to the moon in preparation for manned moon landings in the 2030s.
