SlavaNap

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

SlavaNap is a closed source - clone of the file sharing program Napster and allows a server application for the operating system Windows with a graphical user interface, the exchange of files between users on the Internet.

It basically has the same functionality as OpenNap (chat rooms, different user levels, different file types can be exchanged, etc.), but was programmed in Delphi 4 . However, the graphical user interface makes it easier for many users to administer the server without client software (such as TekNap ). A SuperUser was also built into SlavaNap, which has all rights. This superuser (internal: console) can only be used for administration, not for uploading or downloading. In principle, third-party software can again be dispensed with - unless you want to exchange files yourself.

Initially SlavaNap was only available for Windows operating systems, but since version 3.0.0 SlavaNap is also available for Linux. For Windows, in addition to a GUI-based version, there is also a resource-saving daemon version without a graphical user interface.

SlavaNap is still very popular today and is still being developed. Because of its simple concept and popularity, it has also been translated into different languages. For a long time, a list of active servers could be obtained from Napigator . Since the end of April 2004 this service no longer exists, which is why two new ones (operated by private individuals) have been created (www.naplist.com (now also offline) and www.gotnap.com).

history

SlavaNap was launched by "Vjacheslav Trushkin", who, like "drscholl" from OpenNap, had problems with the RIAA and has ceded the project.

Network topology, file exchange, protocol

In principle it is similar to OpenNap , but they are not compatible with each other, i. H. an OpenNap server cannot connect to a SlavaNap server as it would be possible under the same server programs (i.e. SlavaNap↔SlavaNap, OpenNap↔OpenNap).
