Slinningsbålet

Slinningsbålet is a St. John's fire in the Norwegian city ​​of Ålesund in the province of Møre og Romsdal . It became famous for its unusual height.

The fire is each year around since the beginning of the 20th century St John the summer solstice on the island Slinningsholmen in Ålesund district Slinningen inflamed.

More recently, wooden pallets have been used as fuel for the fire. It is piled up by about 30 to 40 young people between the ages of 13 and 20. In 2020, despite the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic , the fire took place, but the area remained closed to viewers and was replaced with a live broadcast.
