Slinningen is a district of the Norwegian city of Ålesund in the province of Møre og Romsdal .

The district is located on the island of Heissa and occupies its eastern part, which stretches narrowly between the Heissafjord in the south and Aspevågen with the port of Ålesund in the north. The mountain Sukkertoppen rises to the west . To the east of the place is the small island of Slinningsholmen .

During the Second World War , the Iris and another ship sank on March 17, 1945 in Aspevågen north of Slinningen as a result of an air raid. The wrecks are still there.

With the Slinningen Barnehage there is a kindergarten with 52 places in the district.

At the eastern end of the village is the listed building Slinningbua , which was formerly used for fish processing . In addition, there are archaeological sites from the Stone Age and a burial site from the Bronze Age . In addition, several finds were made underwater off the northern shore line, such as an anchor.

Each to the summer solstice will take place at the St. John's Island Heissa, fire on Slinningsholmen, near the easternmost point around Slinningsbålet instead. Wooden pallets piled up to a height of over 40 meters are burned. Due to its record height, the Slinningsbålet attracts national attention.
