Slitherine is an English game developer and publisher based in Epsom , specializing in the development of computer strategy games .

The company is known for historical strategy game series such as Panzer Corps or Close Combat and cooperations with TV broadcasters. In 2007 the HISTORY Great Battles series was started. For Spike TV , Slitherine produced the simulation program that was used to simulate the outcome of duels between different warriors in the series Deadliest Warrior . The BBC Battle Field Academy followed in 2010 .

In addition to its video games, Slitherine publishes a number of manuals for its Field of Glory tabletop strategy game series . The game is originally set in antiquity and the Middle Ages and was expanded to include the Renaissance in 2010 and Napoleonic scenarios in 2012.

Slitherine was founded on July 4th, 2000 as Slitherine Software UK Ltd.

On December 15, 2009 the company was renamed Slitherine Ltd. renamed.

On May 10, 2010 the merger with Matrix Games was announced. Both companies specialize in military simulations and strategy games and thus formed what they claim to be the largest publisher specializing in military simulations.
