Teupitz waters

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Teupitz waters are a chain of lakes connected by canals in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg . They are named after the town of Teupitz , which is also the seat of the Schenkenländchen office .

geography

The south-western end of the chain of lakes is in the Teupitz district of Egsdorf and leads in a north-easterly direction via Schwerin , Groß Köris , the Neubrück residential area to Prieros , where it flows into the Dahme . The chain of lakes is crossed by several larger traffic routes. The federal motorway 13 (at km 12.52) runs between the Zemminsee and the Kanalgraben in a north-south direction, and the Berlin – Görlitz railway line a few meters further east , followed by the federal road 179 at the transition between the Klein Köriser See and the Hölzernen See to the federal highway 246 on the Dahme.

The waters themselves are a federal waterway , which is run as Teupitz waters with the designation TpG and has a total length of 18.3 km from the southwest end of the Teupitz lake to the confluence with the Dahme waterway at km 26.

The waters include the following lakes (from southwest to northeast):

ecology

The border of the Dahme-Heideseen Nature Park runs through the chain of lakes between the Zemninsee and the Schulzensee (parallel to Autobahn 13 ) . The three south-western lakes (Teupitzer, Schweriner, Zemninsee) lie outside the nature park, with the south bank of the Teupitz lake and the east bank of the Zemnin lake border on the park. The seven lakes, which connect in a north-easterly direction, belong completely to the nature park.

Lichen-pine forests , sand, dry grassland and mixed deciduous forests alternate on the shore zones . Although the chain of lakes is fed by numerous drainage ditches, there are low-nutrient boiler and silting bogs. Among other things, the kingfisher can be observed there. Orchids , the caraway silge and the magnificent carnation grow on the wet meadows . The air is populated by endangered animals such as the osprey and sea eagle . Eel , perch , carp , tench , catfish and white fish live in the lakes . The otter , which is also endangered , was also detected.

The lakes and the adjacent bank zones are used for tourism. As a federal waterway, the chain of lakes can be used by motorboats. A shipping company offers trips across the ten lakes to Prieros from a jetty on Lake Teupitz. At kilometer 8.45 on the Klein Köriser See there is a section approved for water skiing . Dragon boat races take place there regularly in summer . On the banks there are several holiday settlements, camping sites, berths for houseboats and slipways . The German Angler Association operates several fishing spots along the chain of lakes.

The water quality from 2012 to 2015 was rated “excellent” at various measuring points in 2016 by the State Office for Occupational Safety, Consumer Protection and Health.
