Lake Teupitz in southern Brandenburg got its name from the town of Teupitz on the shore . It is the largest lake in the Teupitz waters , a chain of lakes that stretches from the Teupitz lake in the west to the Dahme in the east. Administratively it is in the office of Schenkenländchen and in the district of Dahme-Spreewald .
The Teupitz Waters (TpG) are a so-called other federal inland waterway with a length of 18.30 kilometers under the responsibility of the Berlin Waterways and Shipping Office .
description
The water is of natural origin and arose in the Last Ice Age . The shores of the Teupitzer See are characterized by forest landscapes. The lake itself is characterized by four islands. Two have no name, two more in the western part are Egsdorfer Horst and Tornows Werderchen . The lake is divided by a peninsula on which part of the town of Schwerin lies. The larger, south-western part is the actual Teupitzer See, while the smaller part in the north-east is called Schweriner See . The lakes merge at the 120 meter wide flow point and thus form a unit. The entire lake is 3 kilometers long and max. 1.9 kilometers wide, the Schweriner See is connected to the Zemminsee in the north via the Mochgraben . Parts of the south and west banks belong to the nature reserve Kleine and Mittelleber . On the eastern bank there is a pier at Fontane Park . The south bank borders on the Dahme-Heideseen nature park . The writer Theodor Fontane described the lake during his hikes through the Mark in 1874: "This is how I last saw Lake Teupitz, and I long to see it again."
Economic and touristic importance
Round trips are offered on the lake. Bathing, fishing, sailing, surfing and boating are permitted.
