Renatured waters |
The Slivsø (older also Slibsø ) is an approximately 168-hectare freshwater lake in South Jutland in southern Denmark . It lies east of the parish village of Hoptrup and for the most part in the area of this municipality, which in turn is part of the Hadersleben commune .
The water was completely drained by 1958 in order to use the area for agriculture. In the course of an extensive renaturation program, the area was flooded again in 2004, so that the lake was almost restored to its old size. Originally the lake probably formed a branch of the Little Belt , from which it is only separated by a narrow land bridge.
