Sloteko (mentioned 1305 to 1318 ) was Capellanus and Protonotarius and in the Margraviate of Brandenburg and provost of Demmin .

Life

From 1305 to 1311 Sloteko was referred to as notarius ( scribe ) at the margravial court, since that year as protonotarius ( first scribe ). In a document from 1312 he is also referred to as cancellarius (= chancellor). However, according to recent research, the fact that Sloteko was actually Chancellor has been convincingly refuted. In the context of a legal dispute between Markward Bischoff von Ratzeburg and Margrave Waldemar von Brandenburg over sovereignty rights, the document in question may have been forged for an allegedly conclusive evidence. Because during this time Sleteko was capellanus (= court chaplain) and Protonotarius (= chief court clerk). The position of chancellor did not exist at the Ascan court according to the undisputed general opinion. In fact, according to this forged document from 1312, Sloteko would have been the only known chancellor, which, according to the old opinion, was seen as an exceptional exception. In 1313 Sloteko was first mentioned as provost in Demmin, which at that time belonged to the margraviate of Brandenburg. In 1315 he became a stewardess . At the request of Margrave Waldemar, he and his brothers had to hand over the town of Werder an der Havel to the Lehnin monastery in 1317 .
