Slow Jam

Slow jam is a term from English and is often used in connection with music styles such as rhythm and blues , R&B , funk , soul , jazz and hip-hop . The expression “ slow jam ” (German: “slow jam ”) is a more detailed description of a gentle or slow song. The lyrics of a slow jam are usually about love and friendship. The term was introduced in the 1970s and was associated, for example, with ballads from major music labels such as Motown . The term then established itself strongly in the later R&B scene in the USA, which was mainly influenced by the Afro-American culture.

It is made up of the English terms

  • Slow - 'slow' (physically, time), 'sluggish' (impression), 'gentle' (often sexual) and
  • Jam - 'stage show', 'rehearsal', 'celebration', 'music party', 'improvisation' ( to jam , ' making music together').
