The cycling race XIV. Tour of Slovakia 1970 ran over seven stages. The overall winner was the Czechoslovak Vlastimil Moravec .
Attendees
88 drivers from eight countries took part in the tour . In addition to the entire elite of the ČSSR, drivers from Poland, Romania, France, Italy, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland were at the start.
Stages
The tour led over a total of seven stages.
1st stage
The first stage was 233 km. Petr Matoušek won in 5:47:03 h ahead of Vlastimil Moravec and Jiří Háva (all ČSSR). In tenth place, the Swiss Robert Thalmann was the first foreigner to cross the finish line.

2nd stage
The second stage was 178 km. Petr Matoušek , the previous day's winner, gave up the race. Vlastimil Moravec secured the stage from his compatriots Hladek and Souček. Moravec took over the overall leader's yellow jersey.

3rd stage
The third stage was 150 km. The local drivers also dominated this stage. Haitman won in 3:38:58 h ahead of his compatriots Zeman and Kocis. The Dane Soerensen came in ninth as the best foreigner.

4th stage
The fourth stage was 151 km. Eight outliers, all from the ČSSR and among them the overall leader Moravec, crossed the finish line with a lead of three minutes. Soucek won in 3:45:17 h from Miloš Hrazdíra and Jindřich Marek .

5th stage
The fifth stage was an individual time trial over 48 km. The Czechoslovak Mainus won in 1:03:40 h. Vlastimil Moravec followed, including the time bonuses for the winner, 1:36 minutes behind. With that he defended his overall lead. Third place went to Antonín Bartoníček , 2:40 minutes behind. The best foreigner was the Italian Oscar Zamangni in eighth place, 3:08 minutes behind.

6th stage
The sixth stage led over 154 km to the final destination of the tour to Žilina . The Czechoslovak Svorada won in 3:46:56 h. Out of a chasing group, Zeman and Mrenka secured second and third place. The Italian Zamagni, also represented in the chasing group, took sixth place as the best foreigner.

7th stage
The seventh stage was driven as a criterion over 105 km in Žilina . Czechoslovak Jindřich Marek won in 2:25:45 h . The Romanian Mihail Hrisoveni took second place.

Overall ratings
Singles (yellow jersey)
56 of the 88 riders who started reached the finish of the last stage. During the tour there were two yellow jerseys - Petr Matoušek one stage and Vlastimil Moravec five stages. After Moravec took over the jersey after the second stage, he defended it until the tour destination in Žilina . Moraves secured the overall victory with 2:29 minutes ahead of his compatriot Vlcek. Rudolf Labus took third place, three minutes behind. The best foreigner was Kazimierz Jasiński from Poland in ninth place.

The team victory went to Dukla Brno. Bohemia B, RH Plzeň, Slovensko B, Moravia A. Poland, the best foreign team, followed in sixth place.
