The Slovenian Council Presidency designates the presidency of Slovenia in the Council of Ministers of the EU for the second half of 2021. Slovenia completed the tenth trio , which consisted of Germany and Portugal alongside Slovenia . After 2008 , Slovenia's second Presidency was in 2021.

Under the impression of the COVID-19 pandemic , the focus was on the EU's resilience, the conference on the future of Europe , the rule of law and the EU's relationship with the Western Balkans .

Priorities of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency

Slovenia takes action with its motto “Together. Resilient. Europe. ”The motto“ Together. Making Europe strong again ”by the trio partner Germany and will focus on the following priorities in the Council's work in the second half of 2021:

  • "Resilience, Recovery and Strategic Autonomy of the European Union"
  • "Conference on the Future of Europe"
  • "A Union that promotes the European way of life, the rule of law and equal standards for all"
  • "A credible and secure European Union that can guarantee security and stability in the neighborhood"

Sponsors

The Slovenian Presidency is supported by local companies. Foodwatch welcomes the fact that the Council Presidency cannot be supported by international corporations, but points out that some of the support comes from manufacturers of "sugary and alcoholic beverages".
