Smáralind [ ˈsmauːraˌlɪnt ] is a shopping center in Kópavogur , Iceland . With over 90 shops, restaurants and other services under one roof, it is the largest in Iceland. The center opened on October 10, 2001. It is close to the Icelandic capital Reykjavík (in what is known as the “Capital Area” ) and competes with the Kringlan shopping center and the shops in downtown Reykjavík. Smáralind also has a multiplex cinema . In 2008, the Smáratorg Tower , the tallest building in Iceland, was opened in the immediate vicinity of the shopping center .
