The Smithies Brook is a watercourse in Lancashire , England . It arises from the confluence of Swanside Beck and Ings Beck and flows in a westerly direction until it joins the River Ribble from the left .
Shortly after it was built, the Swanside Bridge crosses the watercourse. The bridge is a so-called Packhorse bridge . The bridge has a span of about 2.0 m and was built from limestone in the 17th century at the latest . Today the bridge is a Grade II listed building .
