Smooth Iceland (of English smooth , smooth, flat, uniform ' ) is an island in the Wilhelm Archipelago off West coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the group of the Argentine Islands , it is the northeasternmost of the Forge Islands .
The island's hallmark is its smooth and ice-free surface, which prompted the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee to give it a descriptive name in 1961.
