Smouha Sporting Club ( Arabic نادي سموحة الرياضي, DMG Nādī Samūḥa ar-Riyāḍī ), also known simply as Smouha, is an Egyptian sports club based in Smouha , Alexandria , Egypt . The club is best known for its professional soccer team, which currently plays in the Egyptian Premier League , the highest league in Egyptian soccer.

history

In football, Smouha finished second in the Egyptian second division in 2008/09. They were on the verge of promotion to the Egyptian Premier League, but lost their last game against Kafr El-Zayat so Mansoura was promoted instead. In the 2009-2010 second division season, Smouha secured promotion to the 2010/11 Egyptian Premier League after a 7-1 win over Abu Qair Semad on April 28, 2010. Smouha played for the first time in its history in the Egyptian Premier League. The current president of the Smouha Sports Club is Egyptian millionaire and MP Mohamed Farag Amer , founder and CEO of the Faragallah Group, a food manufacturer. The club was on the verge of relegation in the 2010/11 season, but was just able to hold the class. In the 2013/14 season , the club was able to take second place. In 2015 the club took part in the CAF Champions League and in 2017 in the CAF Confederation Cup .
